Checking Baggage?

When flying, please be sure to find out your airline carrier’s specific baggage policies and requirements. Some airlines have started limiting passengers to only one checked bag and are assessing passengers a charge in addition to the air fare for additional checked baggage. Airlines also charge for baggage outside their size and weight limitations.

Some airline carriers' policies are below, but these are continuously changing, so please be sure to refer to their specific websites for the most up-to-date information.

American Airlines: Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after May 12, 2008, but before June 15, 2008, may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008, will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag.

Exceptions to this policy include customers who purchase First or Business Class tickets, AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum® and AAdvantage Gold® members as well as customers who purchase full-fare tickets in Economy Class. View a complete list of exceptions.

Our carry-on policy of one personal item (such as a purse or laptop bag) plus one bag remains in place. Current policies for baggage allowance as well as fees for checked baggage can be found below.

NOTE: The following applies only to travel within or between the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada unless otherwise stated. Please check with our Reservations personnel for International policies or information not covered below.

IMPORTANT: Please refer to recent updates to carry-on baggage restrictions for the most current information regarding carry-on liquids.
