Suwon is the provincial capital of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Suwon is the provincial capital of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. A major city of over a million inhabitants, Suwon lies approximately 30 kilometres (20 miles) south of Seoul. It is traditionally known as "The City of Filial Piety".The city is served by two motorways, thenational railway network, and theSeoul Metropolitan Subway. Suwon is a major educational center, home to 11 universities. Ithas several sports facilities, including anarcheryfield,badmintoncourts,ten-pin bowlinglanes, indoorswimming pools,tenniscourts,soft tenniscourts andfootballpitches. It is also home totheSuwon World Cup Stadium, a venue during the2002 FIFA World Cupand home toK League ClassicteamSuwon Samsung Bluewings.Suwon FC, another K League Classic team, plays at theSuwon Sports Complex.
