Georgetown is the capital of Guyana, located in Region 4, which is also known as the Demerara-Mahaica region. It is situated on the Atlantic Ocean coast at the mouth of theDemerara Riverand it was nicknamed ''Garden City of the Caribbean''. Georgetown is primarily the business and governmental seat of the country but its fascinating wooden colonial buildings also provide a different experience for tourists. However, most tourists visit Georgetown as a launching point to the rainforests of the interior.
